Located in Petchaburi district, Kaeng Krachan reservoir is a perfect spot for SIV.
The reservoir is immense and is surrounded by hills, which rise up to the west towards the Burmese border. Popular with Thais at the weekends, it is a favourite spot for camping, fishing, birdwatching and picnics.
The best months for flying here are January and February - when the winds are light from the north / north east. We base ourselves at a super-friendly resort on the western shore, which has refreshments and food on tap all day. Large trees set back from the shoreline offer shade from the sun, and a huge launch / landing area completes the picture. There are bailout landing spots everywhere.
For our SIV courses, it is possible to stay at the resort rather than driving back to Pranburi each evening. Contact us if this is something that interests you.
